Fresh from his course at Assistant Dogs Australia (ADA) Justus the labrador got to meet the handler and students at Coodanup College he will be working with for the next ten years on Wednesday.
Justus was donated to the school by the ADA to help the students socially and educationally.
The students will learn how to be confident around dogs, how to use manners around dogs, toileting and grooming.
Mrs Bell will be taking care of Justus while he works for the school and Justus has already made friends with her kelpie-cross and two daughters.
As the first educational support dog trained by the ADA in Western Australia Mrs Bell said he has made a welcome addition to the school.
“I hope it will stop kids from dropping their rubbish on the ground and help clean up the college to help protect the dogs.”
The ADA trains dogs for people with disabilities, schools, people with post traumatic stress disorder and retirement homes from the time they are eight weeks old.
The ADA is always looking for dog educators, to apply or to make a donation to the charity go to assistancedogs.org.au.
Coodanup College also raised $500 for the ADA.
