The future looks bright for Mandurah nursing as a group of talented students took home a bevy of scholarships on Wednesday night for their dedication to the profession.
Murdoch University Peel Campus nursing students Amanda Wilkinson, Hayley Whitmore, Joanne Dean and Kimberley Johnston were awarded City of Mandurah scholarships by Councillor Don Pember at a special ceremony.
Cr Pember also presented the 2015 Coolibah Total Caring nursing scholarship to Chanelle Hinder.
Deputy Mayor Darren Lee said the City was proud to have a history of supporting Murdoch University’s Peel Campus nursing students.
“Murdoch University’s nursing school provides such a valuable program for the Peel Region,” he said.
“We are dedicated to supporting and nurturing our local students, and the City of Mandurah scholarships are just one of the ways we demonstrate this.”
The City of Mandurah has supported the Murdoch University scholarships since 2010 and has award more than $18,000 to 18 nursing students at the Peel Campus.
A report will be presented to Council next month, which if supported will increase the City’s contribution to the scholarships from $4000 to $8000 per year for the next three years.
Coolibah Total Caring has recently renewed its support for Murdoch University, committing $9000 to the scholarships over the next three years.
