CASEY Mihovilovich, Ashlee Sidebottom, Taylor Mullenax and Ben Smith will represent the Mandurah Magic after being selected in the initial 2015 SBL South All-Stars squad for the SBL All-Star game.
The game will be played on June 1 at the Bendat Basketball Centre in Perry Lakes with all proceeds going to Youth Focus.
The game will see the South All-Stars take on the North All-Stars.
One player from each team was selected by the public and the final six players were chosen to complete the roster by coaches.
Mihovilovich has been one of the in-form players of the competition averaging 19.6 points per game, which is third in the league.
She is also the league leader in steals with 4.3 per game, while she sits second in assists with 4.7.
Magic women’s coach Randy Miegel said he was not surprised by Mihovilovich’s selection.
“I think the way she has been playing it’s a pretty obvious choice to be honest,” he said.
“It’s just another feather in the cap for her.”
Ashlee Sidebottom was selected by coaches Ryan Petrik and Simon Parker to be added to the squad.
The forward is 20th in the league in scoring averaging 12.7 points and is pulling down 5.9 rebounds a game.
Smith was initially selected as the Magic men’s representative for the men with Taylor Mullenax being added after the vote.
Smith sits second in the team for scoring, averaging 19.1 points while Taylor Mullenax leads the way with 20.2.
Men’s coach Jason Kyle said Smith was a bit of an unsung hero around the squad being one of the hardest workers in the team.
“Ben Smith is just a great player,” he said.
“People often lean towards the imports.
“He’s one of the most dominant centres in the league. It really shows how much respect he has in the league.”
The women will tip-off at noon and the men at 2pm.
