Jones fell agonisingly short of winning the Flyweight WBC State Championship against Michelle Seivers where she lost in a split points decision in September.
Jones was meant to have a rematch for the state title two weeks ago but her opponent failed her medical at weigh-in.
“It was a real kick in the guts,” Jones said.
Thankfully the fighter didn’t have to wait long for another title fight with Namuanghchan the new opponent.
“I’ve taken this fight on with just over two week’s notice because I was prepped and ready to go,” Jones said.
“Namuanghchan is also a southpaw so I haven’t had to work on different tactics in that area.”
However Jones said she was going in somewhat blind with no footage of Namuanghchan fighting available.
“She has mainly a boxing background so we are expecting quick hands,” Jones said.
Namuanghchan is a professional boxer with more than 60 fights and also competes in Muay Thai having more than 15 fights winning five times on knock out.
The 38-year-old Mandurah fighter said it would be a step up for her, with Jones going into only her eighth fight.
“My first state title fight was extremely close; I’ve grown in this small amount of time and have had a few set backs that has made me hungrier to fight for a win,” Jones said.
She said her training had been just as much mentally and emotionally challenging as it had been physical.
“To have the original fight pulled the night before and then to have to slog out another two-and-a-half weeks [of training] has been pretty draining in every area,” the local fighter said.
Despite the disrupted training Jones said she was ready to go and hoped she could bring the belt home to Mandurah.
Jones, the owner of True Grit Thai Boxing Club, will have three of the fighters she trains on show a week after her fight at the Mortal Kombat 2 Fight Show. Jones tanked District Screens Mandurah, Dolphin Storage Pinjarra and For the Fighter Gold Coast for their support throughout the year.
