The local restaurant won the award at the 2014 Savour Australia National Restaurant and Catering Awards held in Melbourne this month.
“It’s great, there was such a big crowd at the awards,” Yogi’s manager Aman Ghuman said.
“After the awards other Indian restaurant owners came up to me and asked how long we had been open for; they were surprised that we had only been open for two years.
“They wanted to know how we had done it.”
Mr Ghuman said the award was a team effort.
“We have good food, good staff and good service,” he said.
“It’s recognition for all the staff’s hard work.”
Mr Ghuman thanked customers for their support and said without them they would not be able to operate.
Mr Ghuman said he moved to Australia two and a half years ago to help his 25-year-old brother Gary run the restaurant.
“I’d managed and had my own businesses in India but never a restaurant,” he said.
“He has given me all the power so it is easier to manage.”
Mr Ghuman said his parents and family in India were very proud of their achievement.
“My father is showing photos of the award to all his friends,” he said.
