THE region's newest $12.3million shopping centre has been given a final green light with construction to commence at the Central Park Mandurah development site.
The Peel Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) approved the plans for the region's fifth Woolworths supermarket and subsequent liquor store, retail and office space and fast food outlet at the Bortolo Drive, Greenfields site.
The 11.2-hectare site, which backs on to the current Masters store, will not include any residential development.
But further Central Park Mandurah works, not at the specific Bortolo Drive site, have included plans for more than 2000 residents.
Under the shopping centre proposal, 296 parking bays will be put in place for shoppers with two freestanding pylon signs to be erected along the Kirkpatrick Drive elevation of the site.
Several businesses can move into the centre including restaurants, consulting rooms, medical/health facilities and offices with Woolworths already signed on to the centre.
While a fast food outlet has been included in plans for the site, no applicant has been approved as yet.
"The proposed development results in an attractive, high-quality streetscape," the report read.
The development will connect with Mandurah's Train Station by a new footbridge, bringing shoppers across Mandurah Road and into the Central Park Mandurah development.
Construction on the centre is expected to be complete within three years.
