Police have urged all boaties to rethink any plans to head out on the water today, given the severe weather warning in place.
"Water Police are advising the boating public that due to the bad weather, if they are in a safe anchorage and are considering going to sea NOT TO and stay where they are until the bad weather passes," the warning reads.
According to police winds are predicted at speeds of up to 50knots with seas of between two to three metres and a swell of three to four metres.
The warning states the conditions are "extremely dangerous" on the water.
