MICHAEL Bell first discovered a love of painting when he was at school.
“I remember I’d get really angry when my family would take one of my paintings off the fridge and throw it in the bin,” he said.
Since then the Halls Head man has gained notoriety as an artist, with his work currently on display at a Perth gallery.
Bell’s solo exhibition, One’s Nature is showing at the Kurb Gallery in Northbridge until September 19 and showcases a collection of the artist’s works.
“The gallery is for up-and-coming artists,” he said.
“It’s colourful and it’s always got great work on show.”
Using oil paints on medium to large scale canvases, Bell said he enjoys painting nature’s rhythms and patterns.
He creates his artwork at the Contemporary Arts Spaces Mandurah (CASM) and is set to take part in a CASM group exhibition next year.
And he said while his family wouldn't dare throw away his work anymore, “they give it back if they don’t like it and ask for another one”.
