“We always liked Mandurah and we used to come here for holidays,” Mrs Cunningham said.
“Then we moved here five years ago and it’s been fantastic, everything is so convenient.”
This week the retirement village the couple calls home has been crowned one of the most outstanding developments of its kind in Western Australia.
Lattitude Lakelands took out the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) award for excellence in the Seniors Living category, one of the 14 award categories.
“The winners demonstrated the diversity of residential development today,” UDIA (WA) chief executive Debra Goostrey said.
“It is critical that we continue to benchmark residential development and reward those who stand above the rest.”
Lattitude Lakelands developers Peet Limited said it was an honour to receive the award.
“We’re immensely proud of Lattitude Lakelands and this award is great recognition from the industry of the hard work and dedication of our project team,” chief executive Brendan Gore said.
“It will also add to the already high level of pride the residents of Lattitude have in their community.”
