Two vehicles parked next to the van have also been damaged after the fire spread quickly.
Shopping centre patrons who parked in the same area as the van are now unable to return to their vehicles as fire crews remain on-site.
At this stage, those motorists could wait up to an hour to regain access their vehicles.
The centre is still open despite the carpark chaos with trading under way as usual.
4.30pm: Secret Harbour shopping centre has been cordoned off and is closed to the public.
Police are at the scene.
4.20pm: FIRE crews have been called to Secret Harbour shopping centre this afternoon after a vehicle caught alight.
The incident was reported just before 4pm.
At this stage it is not clear what started the blaze which has engulfed a van containing gas cylinders.
Firefighters from Rockingham said they would be at the scene for at least the next hour.
No injuries have been reported.
