MANDURAH will be hoping for a far better effort when they come up against Waroona on Saturday.
The last time the two sides met was in round nine with Waroona coming away with a 111-point win, 22.19 (151) to 6.4 (40).
Justin Giumelli kicked six goals for Waroona to match Mandurah’s total of six goals.
Waroona will be hoping for a similar result as they attempt to close the gap between theirs and Centrals’ percentage which currently stands at 29 per cent.
Centrals have an opportunity to break Halls Head recent two game winning streak when they meet at Harcourts Stadium on Sunday.
Halls Head is the only team Centrals have not defeated this year with Halls Head winning their first encounter in round five by 13 points and their round 12 clash by 14 points.
In their most recent game Halls Head set the win up in the opening three quarter where they outscored Centrals in each to lead by 21 points at three-quarter time.
John Bennell starred for Halls Head with seven goals, his best haul for the season.
If Centrals lose they will relinquish their hold on top place with Waroona likely to defeat Mandurah.
Halls Head will draw level on wins with Centrals if they win.
Baldivis’ push towards a finals spot begins this weekend when they come up against Rockingham.
Baldivis currently sit two wins behind South Mandurah but a win would likely close that gap to one game with South Mandurah coming up against Pinjarra.
The last time Baldivis played Rockingham they control the game throughout, holding Rockingham scoreless in the second and last quarters to win by 94 points, 19.12 (126) to 4.8 (32).
Peter Agostino led the goal kickers with five for Baldivis.
A win to Rockingham would see them draw level on wins with Baldivis and in the process would all but snuff-out Baldivis’ finals chances.
In the final game of the round Pinjarra come up against South Mandurah at Falcon Oval on Sunday.
The sides last met in round 10 with Pinjarra winning by 45 points.
Pinjarra set up the win in the opening half with the Tigers leading by 45 points at halftime.
To their credit South Mandurah regrouped in the second half to score the same as Pinjarra but the game had already been lost.
Mandurah take on Waroona on Saturday at Bendigo Bank Stadium at 4.30pm.
On Sunday Baldivis play Rockingham at Baldivis Oval at 2.30pm, South Mandurah come up against Pinjarra at Falcon Oval at 2.30pm and Halls Head take on Centrals at Harcourts Stadium at 2.30pm.
