As part of Operation Merino, forensic officers have returned to the Ward Street property where 69-year-old Robert Dalliston was found dead.
His death is still described by officers as one of the worst they had seen.
As reported in last week's Mandurah Mail, the investigation into Mr Dalliston's death took a new turn.
On Monday police appealed for anyone with information to come forward and on Tuesday, set up an information booth.
On Thursday, forensic police returned to the Ward Street property after new information came to light.
“We hope advances in forensic science may help us to bring the killer to justice,” Major Crime Squad Det-Inspector Gene Pears said.
“We have recently received fresh information regarding this offence and we are confident that some community members have the information that will help us solve this crime.
“The killer may have been assisted immediately before or after this crime was committed, and these people could help us bring this person to justice.”
At the time of his death, Mr Dalliston was facing charges of indecent dealing and sexual penetration of girls under the age of 13.
He was last seen catching a taxi in Silver Sands one week before he was found murdered inside his home.
Det-Insp. Pears urged those with knowledge about this crime to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
