Students covered the ribbon in well wishes for sick children and the school’s 15-metre ribbon will eventually be joined to make a 1500-metre ribbon.
The Guinness World Record attempt aims to raise awareness and funds for the Children’s Leukaemia and Cancer Research Foundation.
Meadow Springs’ year two/three J11 class, led by teacher Megan Kelly, helped organise the ribbon.
“We wrote messages to kids with cancer and I wrote ‘I hope you get better and you don’t get too sick’ on the ribbon,” one student said.
MSPS principal Ashley King kept his message simple and wrote “keep fighting”.
The school raised $367 for the foundation.
The current record for the longest record is 1247 metres and the ribbon will be donated to the hospital for its opening in 2015.
