THE big dry continues for Mandurah with “no rain on the horizon” according to a Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) spokesperson.
If no rain falls on the region by Sunday, February 23, Mandurah will have broken an almost 40-year record for the longest dry spell.
For 77 days between November 11, 1973 and January 26, 1974 not a drop of rain was recorded in Mandurah.
The current dry spell of 75 days equals the dry spell from November 21, 1974 to February 2, 1975.
The last time rain was recorded in Mandurah was in the 24 hours to 9am on December 7, 2013 with just .4mm registering on the gauge.
“It’s been very, very dry this year,” the BoM spokesperson said.
“We’ve had nothing of significance since the beginning of December.”
