If found guilty of his current charges Hamish Mark Buschl, 37, will be declared a drug trafficker and sentenced to a term of imprisonment.
Mr Buschl, of Falcon, appeared in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Friday in custody but was granted surety bail after lawyer Brian Mahon argued his client had “effectively gone cold turkey” from his methylamphetamine habit and slept through his earlier court appearance.
Charged with a range of serious offences, Mr Mahon argued his client had simply “overlooked” his bail rather than avoided a court appearance.
Mr Buschl is yet to plead to his charges including being found in possession of more than 93 grams of methylamphetamine, more than five grams of cocaine and more than two grams of cannabis.
Looking “dreadful” in the dock on Friday, Magistrate Vivien Edwards warned Mr Buschl, a New Zealand national, he would have “no one to blame” but himself if he again breached bail.
Mr Buschl was granted a $10,000 surety bail with a $10,000 personal undertaking.
He has a 6pm-6am curfew in place and must present at the Mandurah Police Station three times a week.
Mr Buschl was also banned from applying for any travel documents or leaving the State.
He will reappear in Mandurah Magistrates Court on January 17.
