Spotted around the Mandurah Crab Fest at the weekend was local artists taking part in the En Plein Air competition.
“En plein air” is a French expression which means “in the open air” and is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors.
The theme of the competition was ‘Mandurah: Lifestyle and Waterways’ based on a plein air interpretation.

There was four prize categories in the competition including traditional, contemporary, highly commended and people’s choice.
The pieces will be featured at the Vivid Art Gallery in the Smart Street Mall throughout the week.
Artists were permitted to work with any medium including body art, sculpture, ephemeral, digital or painting.
The competition was extra special because it was sponsored by the team at the Mandurah Mail.
