When opening a new store, Australian H&M country manager Hans Andersson says it all comes down to one thing.
“It has to be fun to shop”.
The Mail can reveal that come March 22, the clothing giant will be doing just this when they open the doors at their Mandurah Forum store.
With their 40 new, local staff members hired and in training, Mr Andersson said their H&M team will ensure the shopping experience will be one to remember for local fashionistas.

“The most important thing we tell our staff is to spread our culture and try to have fun when they are working,” he said.
“If the staff can’t have fun then you can’t have fun as a customer. It should be an experience even if you’re just there to get inspiration.”
But the store’s opening is more than just a promise of an enjoyable time for Mandurah shoppers. It’s an indication that the internationally successful store has confidence in the local economy heading forward.
Although Mandurah has been listed as one of the country’s top 15 regions with the highest unemployment rates, Mr Andersson said the company was confident their third WA store was in a prime location.
“Mandurah has a growing population with a lot of young families and also a lot of tourists and I think that will be increasing now, so we definitely believe that Mandurah will continue to grow and develop,” he said.
“[Comparatively] in Sweden we have over 140 stores and Sweden is a small country with around 10 million inhabitants. When you’re talking about Perth and it’s surrounds, well that’s two million people there and we have two stores – soon to be three.”
The 2500sqm store is set to have a similar range of men, women and children’s fashion to their Joondalup and Perth CBD stores, and come opening day will see the first of the Swedish company’s autumn collection hit the shelves.
From bright colours to glamorous cuts, the clothing line is one which will keep any fashion lover on trend, while still being able to “grab your personality in the pieces”.
“We want people to buy what they want to and not because fashion tells them to,” Mr Andersson said.
