Dawesville MP Zak Kirkup will be offering a free smoke-alarm battery exchange service for the month of April in a bid to protect local families from house fires.
“We all know just how important smoke alarms are for detecting house fires,” he said.
“As part of this, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services reminds residents to change their smoke alarm battery on the 1st of April each year.
"I want to make sure that as many people across our community are protected, which is why I am offering a free smoke-alarm battery exchange service for the entire month of April.
“Simply bring your old smoke alarm battery into my office and we will exchange it with a new one free of charge.”
Mr Kirkup said it was important that we all do our part to make sure we are prepared for the threat of fires.
“All of us have a shared responsibility to ensure that we are vigilant all year-round for fires – and I'm proud to be able to offer this service to help protect people and their homes in our community.”
Zak Kirkup’s office is located at 1, 633 Old Coast Road, Falcon and is open 8.30am-5pm, from Monday to Friday.
