The Frederick Irwin Anglican School graduate commenced as a Year Four Teacher at her old school in Term 1, 2018, putting her skills to use as one of the “top achieving physical education studies student of Western Australia”, according to the award.
Ms Walmsley said she felt “extremely honoured and privileged” to be recognised for the prestigious award.
“Whilst at University, it didn’t matter to me whether or not I was recognised for my efforts; I knew I would strive for the best, no matter what,” she said.
“I feel extremely humble to be identified as the highest achieving student amongst my cohort from Murdoch University.
Ms Walmsley said teaching had been in her family for generations.
“I knew it was my journey in life to be a teacher,” she said. “As long as I can remember I always knew I wanted to work with children - to assist, guide and motivate the young children in society to ensure they have a promising future,” she said.
