A Mandurah Baptist College student has won a prestigious Western Australian media award for his skills after he interviewed and packaged a video on Jono from House Rules.
Jack Flynn won Best Recorded Interview in the Murdoch University MESH awards for his submission, competing against hundreds of other students in Year 11 and 10.
Mandurah Baptist College media specialist Bernard Hart said media students in Year 11 ATAR last semester focused on reality television and asked Jono to be their subject.
He said Jono gave a talk to the class and did one-on-one student interviews, divulging his experiences on the TV program.

“The students had over two hours of footage to go through,” Mr Hart said.
Mr Hart said Jack produced an engaging interview that provided “a wonderful insight in to the inner workings of reality television”.
He said the award was a great achievement with only 10 categories and one overall winner.
“Especially with the number and quality of entries submitted by high school students in WA,” he said. “Jack is a hardworking media student and truly deserves this award.”
Jack said he was surprised an overwhelmed with the win.
“It’s really surreal,” he said. “It’s great and I’m super happy.”
Jack said he hoped to use the award to inspire him to greater achievement and that he wanted to be a media teacher in the future.
Mr Hart said the college media department wanted to thank Jono for giving up his time for the project.
“Jono was a pleasure to have on board and we wish him all the best,” he said.
