Peel Youth Services has appointed a fresh-face at its helm and has looked to advance its mental health support role in the region.
With an eye on building a strong backbone of programs for the service, new chief executive officer Liz Prescott said she was excited to get to work.
“The programs we offer at Peel Youth Services are best practice and I am so very proud to be a part of the team,” Ms Prescott said.
“I am looking forward to consolidating and building upon the programs that we offer at The Bloc and in schools.”
Their facility, called “The Bloc”, is located at 432 Lakes Road, Greenfields on seven acres of bushland near the Serpentine River.

Peel Youth Services has been providing youth programs since 1993 and has a strong connection to schools in the region.
“We have specialist youth workers embedded at two high schools working directly with students,” Ms Prescott said.
“Additionally we offer support and referral services to families of youth at risk.”
Peel Youth Services Chairperson Helen Douglas welcomed Ms Prescott and said she would be an asset to the team.
“With a background in training, innovation and social enterprise Ms Prescott’s reputation as a not for profit leader is building the capacity of Peel Youth Services to address the changing needs of the community,” Ms Douglas said.
“The Board are delighted that Liz has joined the team and we look forward to increasing our capacity to serve the young people of Peel.”
The support service has successfully held various programs over the years for local youths.
In particular, the Eyes Wide Open (EWO) program for young women and parents 14-25 has worked with over 350 teenage mothers and their babies over the last few years.
Creche facilities are available on site for participants however the EWO team also make home visits and provide outreach mentoring on pregnancy, parenting and child development.
The Groundshock program is run in high schools for boys, Choyces is a program for high school age girls that can be run either in the school environment or at The Bloc one day a week.
Step Up is a program for parents and youth that addresses violence in the family home, with enrolments for the program opening soon.
