Young girls looking to play cricket in the Peel region will be able to get better acquainted with the sport at the Milo T20 Blast competition kicking off on Wednesday, February 14.
The Blast will open doors for aspiring female junior cricketers aged seven to 12-years-old, introducing them to the sport in a format that goes hand-in-hand with the increasingly popular Big Bash League.
Each session will run for 90 minutes, with the music and action imitating that of the nation’s top Twenty20 league.
Games, skills sessions and activities will be available at the Blast, with each girl receiving full skills mentoring as an introduction to the game.

West Australia Cricket Association Peel region manager Brodie Green said the event played a key role in showing young girls the pathways available to them in cricket.
“It’s really important we show girls from a young age that they can actually play cricket, and that there are definitely paths for them to follow in the sport,” he said.
“We’ve built the T20 Blast around the Big Bash League to make sure it’s exciting and enjoyable for the girls, and we got some really good feedback from the last event.
“There’s a skill zone for the girls who are waiting their turn to bat so there’s always something happening for them.”
The event aims to gather numbers for the Peel Perth Scorchers Under 13s Girls League, which officially opened in 2016.
“If we can get more girls into that league and into some structured cricket – that’s certainly what we’re aiming for,” Green said.
“We’re hoping to be able to build on that, and create more leagues for girls as they progress through the age groups.”
The Milo T20 Blast will run every Wednesday at Lark Hill for six weeks, with registrations costing $75.
