Police sergeant stood down after being charged with indecent assault
A WA Police sergeant was due in court on Monday to face an indecent assault charge.
Police released a statement on Monday afternoon announcing the charge.
Very little details of the alleged offence and the officer have been released so far.
The police statement said the officer was charged after an investigation by Internal Affairs Unit detectives.
As a result, the 48-year-old police officer was charged with indecent assault.
The officer was due to appear in the South Hedland Magistrates Court on Monday.
A police spokesperson said the officer had been stood down and was a sergeant within the force.
