The Salvation Army store in Mandurah is searching for the rightful owner of a set of war medals discovered in a donation bin about two weeks ago.
The medals, which are from World War II and were awarded by the British Armed Forces, were discovered in a large donation of clothes.
Store manager Scott Wilson said he was keen to reunite the medals with their owner and imagined they must have been thrown out accidentally.
“We just want them back where they belong,” Mr Wilson said.
“We’ve spoken to the RSL, who sent out their war medal expert to have a look, and if no one claims them, that’s where we’ll donate them, to the RSL museum.
“But, we want them back with their rightful owner, whether that’s to him, his widow or his kids or grandkids.”
Mr Wilson said the RSL medals expert identified the medals as a 1939 to 1945 Star, an Atlantic Star, a Pacific Star and a War Medal 1939 to 1945.
The War Medal 1939 to 1945 bears the name A. W. Cope and the service number 38549.
The owner of the medals, or anyone with information, is urged to call Mr Wilson at the Salvation Army’s Mandurah store on 9581 4104 or email him on scott.wilson@aus.salvationarmy.org.
