The Dudley Park Bowling Club will host Australia’s richest paying singles event when it holds the Everest of Bowls tournament next week.
A total prize pool of $64,000 will be up for grabs, with a number of Australia’s top lawn bowlers hitting the green for a shot at the cash.
The largest event of its kind across the country, the tournament is set to attract national big name bowlers including Karen Murphy, Nathan Rice, Brett Wilkie, Ben Twist, Jeremy Henry and Aaron Teys.
With under a week left until the event kicks off, club captain and event organiser Russell Tyrrell said the club was buzzing.
“We’re super excited – it should be great,” he said.
“Everyone’s pretty busy at the moment but it’s certainly getting to that exciting stage.”
Tyrrell said the event was unprecedented in the Peel region.
“We’ve never seen an event this big before, so it’s really exciting for us,” he said.
“To have such a massive prize up for grabs and so many national and international bowlers at our club is huge for us.”
A total 64 competitors will hit the turfs for the event, with the winner set to take home a whopping $50,000.
Second place will be rewarded $10,000, with equal third to share in $2000 each.
The tournament kicks off on Thursday, October 12 and wraps up on the Sunday, October 15.
