Gun Greater Western Sydney defender and Mandurah football product Nathan Wilson looks set for a homecoming after requesting a trade to be closer to family.
The 24-year-old is heavily linked to the Fremantle Dockers, with a deal expected to be reached between the two clubs in the upcoming trade period.
A Mandurah native, Wilson has established himself as one of the AFL’s premier defenders in his past two seasons with the Giants.
This season saw him average 17.4 disposals per game, but it’s his ability to rebound from their defence that elevated him to the upper echelon of backmen.
Wilson joined the Giants as a 17-year-old access selection in 2011, and has notched 77 games across his six seasons with the club.
The local lad has been a key cog in a GWS side that has reached back-to-back preliminary finals, and would be a huge boost to a Fremantle side looking to climb the ladder.
Wilson played all of his juniors in Mandurah, before progressing to the AFL through Peel Thunder.
