Police have charged a 42-year-old man from North Dandalup following an incident in Forrestdale early Saturday morning.
It will be alleged police were called to a house in Allen Road about 3am after reports of a man outside the address with a gun, who had driven off in a white Nissan Navara utility.
Shortly after the same man was seen at a service station on Nicholson Road.
Police located the vehicle on Corfield Street, Gosnells.
The man was arrested and a rifle with ammunition was seized.
He was given a breath test and police will allege he recorded a reading more than twice the legal limit.
Police charged him for possessing a firearm while intoxicated and driving in excess of 0.08.
He was due appear in Armadale Magistrates Court on October 13, 2017.
