Prison term for Bunbury meth dealer
A Bunbury man was sentenced to 12 months of immediate imprisonment on Monday after pleading guilty to two charges of possessing a prohibited drug (methamphetamine) with intent to sell or supply.
Alan Richard Mayes, 57, was arrested in Carey Park in February 2015. Police and officers from the Tactical Response Group had been called to the house just after 8am with reports a firearm may have been discharged. Read more.
Lion around at Bandy Creek
A local couple had a wild encounter with a friendly sea lion while at their regular fishing spot at Bandy Creek over the weekend.
Melissa Jones said the sea lion was lounging around soaking up the sun before getting up close and personal with the pair and their dog. Read more.
Vasse surfer takes out longboard title
Vasse surfer Chelsea Bedford won the 2017 Health Insurance Fund of Australia WA Longboard Titles on the weekend with Dunsborough’s Rachel Dawe coming in second.
Bedford said after four years of competing it was great to finally score a win. Read more.
Preston Beach rollover prompt shire safety concerns
Waroona Shire has again warned four-wheel drivers to take care on Preston Beach after multiple car accidents in recent weeks.
In the last fortnight, three cars have overturned along Preston Beach, which is often populated by families and holidaymakers. Read more.
