The WA Junior Surfing Titles set to take place in Falcon’s Avalon Beach over the weekend have been moved to Perth’s Trigg Beach following several reports of shark activity off the Falcon coastline.
Surf Life Saving WA reported three separate large shark sightings in the area throughout Friday, prompting the administration to move the event to Perth.
The first shark sighting off Avalon Beach was reported just before noon, followed shortly after by a public report of a 4.5metre white shark off the same location.
Almost two hours later, at 1.40pm, Surf Life Saving WA reported the third shark sighting in the area.
Surfing WA events manager Justin Majeks confirmed the event would be moved.
