In the wake of Mandurah’s unemployment concerns, local retailers have come out with an offer for more than 200 local jobs up for grabs in the area.
Mandurah Forum is offering more than 100 jobs to the region’s residents once the shopping centre’s $350 million redevelopment opens.
In order to get the region’s job seekers and businesses in touch, the centre is holding a job fair outside the centre’s Coffee Club from 4pm to 8pm on June 8.
“Mandurah Forum’s Jobs Fair is designed to match local job seekers with retailers, service providers and hospitality operators that are all currently recruiting team members for roles at Mandurah Forum,” the centre said.
“Job seekers have the chance to connect with 15 business that will be a part of the Jobs Fair with more than 100 jobs available at Mandurah Forum.”
Forum manager Jacqueline McKenzie encouraged job seekers to give the fair a go, and put their best foot forward.
“With 15 businesses involved and more than 100 jobs available, this is a chance to make connections with potential employers, ask questions about roles and apply for available jobs on the spot,” she said.
The centre is currently gearing up to open a brand new Target store, a fresh food market court and several new specialty stores.
However, Mandurah’s first David Jones store is not scheduled for completion until 2018.
It is anticipated once the multi-million makeover is finished, it will create 700 ongoing retail, hospitality and service jobs.
With Lakelands’ new shopping centre nearing completion, future centre retailer Coles is also offering more than 100 jobs to potential new employees.
The new supermarket will include a market-style fresh produce section, a complete in-store bakery, a continental delicatessen section, locally sourced produce and a scoop and weight cabinet with a selection of nuts and dried fruit mixes.
The store will also stock Coles’ own clothes brand Mix.
“The team is very excited to open the doors with over 100 new Coles team members, we are all very eager,” store manager John Bell said.
“We believe the new look store will appeal to Lakelands residents and become a shopping destination.”
The new Coles will officially open its doors on June 21, however a special Coles Family Fun Day will be held from 11am on June 24 to celebrate the opening.
The event will include live entertainment, face painting, games, giveaways and the visit of chef duo Anna and Jordan Bruno and Perth Glory star Liam Reddy.
