Business women from Mandurah and across the Peel region are being encouraged to showcase their achievements, leadership and creativity as entries open for the 2017 Telstra Business Women’s Awards.
Now in its 23rd year, the Telstra Western Australian Business Women’s Awards champion women from diverse industries and aims to make their success become part of a national conversation on women in business.
Telstra executive and awards ambassador Joe Pollard said the awards offered a valuable opportunity to recognise the efforts and talents of outstanding business women.
“The Telstra Business Women’s Awards exist because exceptional business women deserve to be celebrated,” she said.
“Every year we see extraordinary business women challenging the status quo across all industries and from throughout Australia.
“For more than two decades Telstra has fostered and crafted a platform to recognise and celebrate the success of these dynamic business women and now is the time to stand up and be recognised.”
Peel Chamber of Commerce and Industry manager Andrew McKerrell said the Awards provided an opportunity for the community to spotlight the leadership and creativity of local business women.
“I would urge our community to get behind our local business women and either nominate them for the awards or encourage them to enter the awards program,” he said.
“It’s important to showcase the achievements that business women make to our community and I commend Telstra for its continuing support of this very worthwhile initiative.”
Founder of chemo@home Julie Adams, the 2016 Telstra WA Business Woman of the Year, encouraged women to back themselves by self-nominating.
“Celebrating women’s successes helps to change societal opinions around the quantity and quality of women’s achievements,” she said.
“It is important for women to be proud and speak about all that they have achieved, both at home and in their careers.”
Participation in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards begins with a nomination, then nominees submit a completed online entry form.
