Meadow Springs has been named Peel’s hotspot for hot cross buns, with the suburb’s Coles leading the way in sales ahead of Easter.
Cole’s traditional fruit hot cross buns were found to be the most popular in taste and texture in the region when compared to other supermarket brands, grocers and independent bakeries in an independent taste test by consumer group Choice.
The Meadow Springs supermarket has sold 70,000 hot cross buns so far this year.
Coles WA manager Mark O’Connor said the supermarket chain was proud to support local growers, the hot cross buns not being an exception.
“We know our customers want to buy Australian and we are proud our traditional hot cross buns are made with Aussie fruit and flour,” he said.
