Blind Citizens WA will shed a new light in the lives of blind and visually impaired people in the Peel region through a series of peer talks and meetings in Mandurah.
Perth-based Blind Citizens WA is a not-for-profit organisation run by and for people who are blind or vision impaired in Western Australia which seeks promote inclusion, active advocacy and a sense of community.
The new Banishing the Dark meetings aim to broaden the network of those affected by blindness and visual impairments, share useful tips and tricks and encourage active advocacy.
The first Mandurah meeting will be held on Saturday and will share information about the rights of blind or visually impaired people as well as those of their family and friends.
In the forum, representatives of Blind Citizens WA and local residents will discuss issues such as companion cards, transport subsidies, support services and active citizenship.
The meeting will be held at the Billy Dower Youth Centre from 2pm to 4pm.
