A Dawesville man who struck his young son to the head before assaulting his partner has pleaded guilty to the offences in the local court.
The man, who cannot be named to protect the identities of his alleged victims, appeared in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful assault.
The court heard the man had been at home on January 14 with his family.
His two-year-old child was playing when the man struck his son’s head, causing the boy to then hit a brick wall.
The young boy was taken to Peel Health campus where he was treated for bruising and swelling.
Later that evening the man’s partner sought assistance from a neighbour.
While at the neighbour’s door, the man grabbed the woman by her clothes and dragged her along the ground, causing her singlet and underwear to fall off.
The woman sustained serious abrasions to her legs.
The man was subsequently arrested by police and made full admissions.
“I shouldn’t have done it,” he told police.
Counsel for the man said his client had been cooperative with police.
Magistrate Anne Longden remanded the man on bail to reappear on March 15.
She referred to the offences as “very serous” and ordered a pre-sentence report.
The man is on bail conditions which seek to protect both victims.
