THE man who steered Federation Council to The Castle house has been dreaming of forming an Australian Mirthseum for 30 years.
Ebden-based Pete Crofts is thrilled that his plan for a comedy museum is set to come to fruition with the move of the film home from Melbourne to Corowa.
“What’s a home without humour and a home for humour in the home of Federation would be great,” Mr Crofts said.
Described as Australia’s No.1 Humour Coach, Mr Crofts has amassed a large collection of comedy memorabilia including 25,000 books, 4000 records and hundreds of posters.
He first approached Federation Council economic development manager Greg Aplin about housing it 18 months ago and then a town planner client mentioned The Castle house as an option two months ago after learning it was up for sale.
He envisages the house featuring a comedy room and a souvenir shop selling funny ties, squirting flowers, sound effects players and whoopee cushions.
