Mandurah’s iconic Peninsula Hotel will be the focus of a special exhibition at the Mandurah Community Museum in November.
The display plans to delve deep into the pub’s history, from its origins as the sumptuous holiday home of a millionaire mining magnate and Lord Mayor of Perth William Brookman to its heyday under the ownership of the Blakeley family.
The Pen stayed in the hands of the Blakeley family until 1991, when financial difficulties forced its sale.
It traded under new ownership until Australia Day, 2003.
On August 10, 2003, arsonists started a fire at the hotel which destroyed much of the original fabric.
The exhibition will be displayed from 10am on Tuesday, November 1. For more information go to wwww.mandurah.wa.gov.au or call 9550 3682.
