The Peel Cricket Association will be holding a come-and-try day for aspiring young female cricketers in the region this Friday at 4.30pm at the Rhonda Scarrot Reserve
The launch of the league’s first ever under 13s all-girls competition is fast approaching and the association is on the hunt for the next female talent.
A basic session will be held at the come-and-try day, which will provide girls with a fun and relaxed environment to play cricket and join local clubs.
Junior results
Junior boys got their season underway on Saturday.
In under 12s the pick of the games took place between Secret Harbour Dockers and Shoalwater Bay. Secret Harbour posted a whopping four for 159 from their 26 overs with Christopher Huxham scoring an impressive 30 not out closely followed by Damon Bell with 25 not out.
In reply Shoalwater Bay posted 5 for 79 with Rowan McDonagh taking two wickets for zero runs from three overs.
Meanwhile in the under 13s, White Knights Baldivis took on Mandurah. Baldivis elected to bat first and posted 8/156 thanks to strong batting performances from Lachlan Turley and Callum Pitman both scoring 26.
Mandurah fell short of Baldivis’ scoring managing only nine for 117 with an impressive batting performance coming from Reece Torrent who managed an unbeaten 41.
Hillman juniors took on the Secret Harbour Dockers in the under 14s, with Secret Harbour posting 8/108 from 33 overs. Aiden Nurse retired with 14 runs to his name.
Hillman’s bowlers performed well with Sam Otto and Jack Richards both claiming two wickets each.
With the bat, John Sanders and Nathan Banks stood out for Hillman scoring 48 not out and 36 respectively as Hillman made their way to 8/169 from 30 overs.
Riley Swepstone and Noah Carmody both performed well with the ball for Secret Harbour taking 2/9.
Under 15s action saw Pinjarra take on White Knights Baldivis with Pinjarra claiming a convincing win over last years under 15s premiers.
Pinjarra made their way to 5/182 and in reply White Knights Baldivis were bowled out for 69 after Joseph Sellwood scored 20 not out.
Finally, in the under 17s, White Knights Baldivis defeated Halls Head at Settlers Hill Turf on Sunday afternoon.
Halls Head were bowled out for 97 after some strict bowling from Sellwood, taking two wickets for just one run and Wesley Steele taking two for 21.
With the bat, Baldivis scored an impressive nine for 184 thanks to an terrific unbeaten 52 from Ben Merrifield and 27 not out from Mitchell Steele.
