More than 60 keen netballers took to the sand on Saturday, October 15 for the Pinjarra Netball Association’s first Nets by the River event.
Held on parkland next the the Red Lion in South Yunderup, Nets by the River saw nine teams of local netball talent take each other on in a battle of mixed beach netball.
After six rounds of games, the MIS All-stars were crowned the 2016 champions with the Sand Gropers claiming runner-up honours.
Dave Wills was named best player for the carnival with Shari Graham the runner-up.
Pinjarra Netball Association president Elaine Reid labelled the day a huge success.
“To our sponsors and volunteers, a huge thank you for helping to make the day such a success and to all the players, get ready for next year,” she said.
The Pinjarra Netball Association raised $300 from the event, set to be donated to the Bright Blue Gibb River Challenge, raising funds for children suffering from cancer.
