St John Ambulance is supporting the family of paramedic Wesley Ackerman who was critically injured in a head-on collision on Monday morning involving an ambulance and ute.
Mr Ackerman, believed to be in his 40s, is married with young children.
On Tuesday morning he was fighting for his life at Royal Perth Hospital after a ute reportedly veered onto the wrong side of the road and hit the ambulance vehicle he was travelling in as a passenger.
The incident occurred around 5am near the intersection of Mundijong and Duckpond Roads in Oldbury, 45 kilometres south of Perth.
Both vehicles were travelling more than 100 kilometres an hour at the time.
Mr Ackerman was trapped in the ambulance following the crash and was taken to hospital by the RAC rescue helicopter shortly afterwards.
In a statement, St John Ambulance thanked people for their support and concern after the crash.
"St John would like to thank everyone for the significant number of well wishes that have been expressed for our colleagues involved in the road accident earlier today," the statement read.
"Our focus remains on providing dedicated support for Wes, Sharron, their families and our staff.
"Events like this affect all of us and our staff are being urged to continue to support one another during this very difficult time."
The male driver of the ute and the female paramedic driving the ambulance on Monday morning were both hospital in stable conditions. No patients were in the ambulance at the time of the crash.
Major Crash detectives are investigating.
