Greenfields Primary School received a fresh touch up this week when workers from Alcoa’s Huntly mine took to the school to remove weeds and carry out busy bee tasks.
The work, coordinated by Alcoa maintenance staff member Dave Watts, saw the gardens trimmed and play equipment at the school restored to good health.
Huntly mine manager Brett Hodges praised Mr Watts for his efforts to help the community.
“Dave arranged the volunteer event with his local school and invited his work team along to help. They were more than happy to lend a hand for a good cause and carried out some gardening activities as well as other maintenance jobs to support the school,”he said.
Alcoa’s volunteering programs have a number of events scheduled in the coming weeks.
They include assisting with aged care along with projects with an environmental focus.
