There’s only one week to go before Neverland – The Untold Story debuts at Mandurah Performing Arts Centre (MPAC).
The full-scale production put on by the students of Austin Cove Baptist College has been a year in the making, with drama, dance and production classes pitching in to bring an original piece to the stage.
Austin Cove Baptist College students Curran Williamson and Alice Blackmore will play Peter and Wendy respectively, with drama teacher Steve Capener acting alongside his students as Captain Hook.
“I’m not your typical Peter Pan, I’m an evil Pan,” Curran said.
“The story has been re-written though a child’s mind who’s gotten hold of the book that controls Neverland... so I’m trying to destroy Neverland in the play... He kills lots of pirates,” he said.
Alice said the role was giving her a lot of experience, and an opportunity to go down the road of performing arts in future.
Other students will work on backstage production roles at MPAC on the night, including lighting, sound, microphones, and stage management.
“It’s giving the students experience of working a professional theatre and letting them run a live show,” Mr Capener said.
Neverland – The Untold Story will be presented at MPAC with four shows running from Thursday July 28 to Saturday July 30.
