Live from HBF Arena in Joondalup on Saturday, the team at Fairfax Regional Media brings you all the action from the division one competition at the Landmark Country Football Championships.
Saturday
5pm: That’s us done for the day. We will be right back here on this page tomorrow to bring you live coverage of the grand final between the South West and Peel. While both teams get an early night, here is the link to our coverage of the match between the two sides in Bunbury a few weeks ago.
4.30pm: Great Northern Football League left nothing in the locker in their final game with a spot in the grand final on the line. Unfortunately a resounding 10.7.67 to 1.1.7 victory over the Lower South West Football League wasn’t enough to lift their percentage high enough.
This means the Peel Football League and the South West Football League will meet in Sunday’s grand final at Medibank Stadium from 12pm.
3pm: The South West have given themselves every chance of making the grand final with their second win of the day, downing Avon Football Association 9.6.60 to 3.3.21.
Jay Walton kicked three goals for the South West while Curtis Guglielmana kicked two.
2pm: Peel were far too good for Upper Great Southern and have booked their spot in tomorrow’s grand final. Joel Houghton kicked seven goals for the Cavaliers to see his side win 11.8.74 to 3.1.19.
12.50pm: Full time and the South West are still in the hunt for tomorrow’s final with a 7.3.45 to 3.3.21 win over Great Northern Football League. Simon Parry from Donnybrook kicked two lovely goals that term.
12.25pm: Half time and Great Northern lead the South West 2.1.13 to 1.2.8. Collie’s Joel Mahar kicked the opening goal of the quarter for the South West.
11.55am: Full time and Peel have proven too strong for the Lower South West Football League winning 7.7.49 to 3.3.21.
11.30am: Hail has sent the spectators at HBF arena in Joondalup running for cover and the players are certainly in for some trying conditions in the second half.
11.20am: Half time in game two and Peel Football League lead Lower South West Football League 4.4.28 to 1.2.8.
10.45am: Full time and the Upper Great Southern have defeated Avon Football Association despite Avon kicking a goal after the final siren 2.6.18 to 2.1.13.
10.20am: Half time here at HBF arena, Joondalup and Upper Great Southern lead Avon Football Association 1.3.9 to 1.0.6. So far the game has been very physical and fast run from end to end.
8.30am: While we wait for the first game to kick off at 10am, have a look at Justin Rake’s live coverage of the colts teams in action in Mandurah yesterday. Justin will be bringing you all the colt’s action from Pinjarra on Saturday.
