Some of the state’s top up and coming football talent will take to the field in the Peel region for the Landmark Country Football Championships this weekend.
As part of a restructuring of the carnival’s fixtures, Mandurah and Pinjarra will host five colts games each, with the final for the division being played in Leederville on Sunday.
Mandurah will open the carnival, with its five games being played at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Friday.
The Peel Cavaliers will feel right at home when they open the carnival against Regional Districts’ colts side at 11am.
Their second game will be against Great Southern at 2pm.
Bendigo Bank Stadium’s fixture will be followed by a five-game schedule at Sir Ross McLarty Oval in Pinjarra on Saturday.
The top two teams from the 10-game fixture will face off in the carnival’s grand final at Medibank Stadium in Leederville on Sunday.
In the Pinjarra matches, Peel will take on Northern Suns (12pm) and South West (2pm).
Peel got their campaign for a division one title off to the right start when they took down five-time reigning premiers the South West Football League three weeks ago in the regional round.
The Cavs’ league team will now head to Joondalup on Saturday, as they search for what now seems like a likely grand final berth.
If they can win enough games on Saturday, Peel will play in the grand final at Medibank Stadium on Sunday.
The Mandurah Mail will be covering all the colts and league action with a live feed and galleries from the games on Friday and Saturday.
