Former Fremantle Dockers captain Peter Bell joined the new Bunnings Halls Head team, local council politicians and representatives from Bunnings Australia at the opening of the new 13,000 square metre store on Tuesday.
The new store in Halls Head represented an investment of more than $29 million and created more than 100 jobs within the Mandurah community.
It features 14 kitchen displays, five bathroom displays, a coffee shop to recharge ones batteries after a long session of shopping and nearly 300 parking bays.
It also offers a playground and nursing facilities for families shopping with children and will arrange DIY workshops to be enjoyed by both adults and the youngest ones.
During the opening ceremony, store manager Darren Feenstra presented the projects the Bunnings Halls Head team had been working while waiting for the store to open.
Those included the revamp of Glencoe Primary School garden, the renew of Mandurah’s Southern Districts Fire Brigade facilities and a new shed of the 1st Falcon Scouts Group.
Bunnings national chief John Gillam congratulated the store and said Bunnings aimed at opening a third store in the Mandurah area in the future.
Former Dockers captain Peter Bell answered to the questions by a local Bunnings team member and gave a Dockers jersey to the store.
