A graffiti artist has defaced one of Canning MP Andrew Hastie’s campaign signs over the weekend, leaving the local politician nonplussed.
The sign, on Pinjarra Road, was tagged by an unknown vandal.
Mr Hastie took it in good humour.
“Will Mandurah's Van Gogh please come forward,” he wrote in a Facebook post.
He suggested that the would-be artist needed to get some tips from a professional and suggested Emma Blyth, a well known Mandurah artist with a studio and gallery in the Smart Street Mall.
But if the vandal did come forward, they would also face the possibility of a huge fine and a weekend cleaning up the mess, along with a chance their smart phone or laptop computer could be confiscated, thanks to tough new state laws.
