Ashton Crouch, Caitlin Eynon and Rui Harrison are set to represent Western Australia at the Australian Little League Championship in Lismore, New South Wales.
The nationals feature twenty all-star Little League teams from across Australia over a six day tournament, with the winning team receiving automatic qualification for the Little League World Series in Pennsylvania, USA.
The three Frederick Irwin students were looking forward to representing their state and the prospect of going to the USA.
As the only girl on the WA Little League team, Caitlin Eynon, a year 8 student, said she hopes to represent Australia one day, and even go to the Olympics if baseball comes back as an Olympic sport.
“It is a great honour to represent my state at the highest level for my age group in a sport that I am passionate about,” Caitlin said.
Ashton Crouch, a year 7 student, said he hopes he can keep playing baseball for a long time, and keep it as one of his passions.
Rui Harrison, also a year 7 student, said he is proud of his team to come as far as they have and is honoured to represent his state at the tournament.
“I would like to represent Australia in baseball and maybe even play in the MLB one day,” he said.
The three students said they plan to spend the lead-up to their game preparing physically and mentally.
Little League is the world's largest youth sports program, and has run for ten years in Australia.
