The City of Mandurah is understood to be seeking an order for the destruction of a dangerous dog which attacked someone in Falcon last year.
The dog’s owner, Tanya Barnett, was due to face court on Tuesday, but failed to show to answer charges of failing to ensure a dangerous dog was muzzled and collared appropriately, and having control of a dog that attacked and caused injury.
The court heard Ms Barnett’s staffordshire terrier cross was declared dangerous by the City of Mandurah in September, 2014, and had to wear a specific collar and muzzle when taken for a walk.
On October 7, 2015, Ms Barnett was walking the dog on Corinna Street without its collar or muzzle when the dog bit a neighbour’s stomach.
The maximum penalty for this offence is $20,000.
Magistrate Vivien Edwards ordered a summons to be served on Ms Barnett prior to her next court date on July 15.
