STRAIGHT off the recent success of three victories at the Ken and Ces memorial in Perth, South Yunderup dirt kart racer “Smokin” Joe Chalmers backed up his results with two state title wins in South Australia.
Chalmers and his Team BCM team mates headed to South Australia to contest the very competitive South Australian state title at the Tatiara Kart Club in Bordertown.
Chalmers competed in four classes for the weekend and brought home two state titles in the KT mediums and 200 open class.
He also finished fourth in his two other classes of 125 lights and 100 opens.
Chalmers convincingly won the ever competitive KT medium class by a large haul of points in a field of 39 and won the 200 open class by one point over veteran Michael Burford who pushed hard till the end.
Chalmers’ success on the track is a tribute to his hard work off the track as he continues to strive to better his karting skills with his daily training and driver tuition from a former multiple national title winner.
He will now regroup and head towards the next blue ribbon even at the Alice Springs Karting Club on July 9 and 10, one of his favourite events on the dirt racing calendar.
Meanwhile in WA, Chalmers and the rest of the team BCM crew will compete at the Dirt Trackers Kart Club in Wellard, Great Southern Kart Club in Wagin and Busselton Kart Club preparing for a busy schedule leading up to the Australian title in September and October 2016.
