Tuckey Street will buzz with life during this year’s WA Day.
On Monday June 6, from 4pm to 8pm, the street will be full of free activities for all ages to celebrate the cultural diversity that characterises Western Australia.
The evening will kick off with a traditional Smoking Ceremony orchestrated by Aboriginal Elder Harry Nannup.
Any passerby will be able to share stories around the campfire and enjoy a fire twirler performance and a Chinese lantern parade.
Several food trucks serving foods from around the world will be set up for hungry bellies along the street.
They will be serving tasty treats from Morocco, Italy, the Philippines, Spain, South America and traditional Maori Cuisine among others.
Dance performances from Persian, Maori, Irish, Aboriginal and Philippine communities and a live Kung Fu demonstration by skilled fighters will also liven up the party.
The little ones will also be able to get their face painted by Ta Moko, while getting cosy around the fires lit up down the street.
To finish off the night, an Irish band will play live for the audience and there will be sparklers available for everyone.
Locals will also have the chance to participate on a social media competition to win two return flights to see Matilda the musical at the iconic Cambridge Theatre as well as dining vouchers to some of WA’s top restaurants, passes to Perth Zoo and a holiday escape to Bunker Bay.
