PEEL Thunder cemented their place in the WAFL’s top five on Saturday when they annihilated the Perth Demons at Bendigo Bank Stadium by 77 points.
A 19-goal first half primed the Thunder for the win, as they held an untouchable lead at all breaks before taking the game 19.9 (123) to 7.4 (46).
Peel shot out of the blocks from the opening bounce, dominating around the ground and getting a number of forward 50 entries.
Their impressive kicking in front of goal made the match even more difficult for Perth, as Peel booted seven straight goals in the first term to take a 28-point lead into half time.
The demolition continued in the second quarter, with Peel kicking five goals to Perth’s one and effectively ending any hope Perth had of returning to a competitive state in the match.
Peel eased off in the third quarter, with Perth looking cleaner after the half time break.
The Demons outscored the Thunder in the third three goals to two, but still trailed by 50 points at the final change.
Peel came alive again in the final quarter, with their run from half back and through the midfield tearing Perth apart.
The Thunder's Fremantle-listed talent shone in the match, dominating the stat card with a bunch of big numbers.
Matt de Boer pressed his claim for the Dockers with another stellar performance, racking up 24 touches and booting two goals.
Clancee Pearce was also dominant with 30 touches while Nick Suban and Matthew Uebergang booted three goals each.
Former Subiaco forward and now Fremantle and Peel Thunder player Shane Yarran had an impact in his debut for Peel, kicking three goals and showing his natural eye for scoring.
Peel’s Gerald Ugle was also prominent in front of the big sticks as he finished with three goals.
The Thunder now sit in third on the ladder with a 4-2 record, just one game behind South Fremantle in second and a game clear of East Fremantle in fourth.
Next week Peel plays the sixth-placed West Perth.
